Astralis: exploring man's relation to the stars
Astralis explores mans relation to the stars through a visual and musical history of our conception of the universe. Compositions spanning nearly the complete canon of western music provide counterpoint to images of stars, constellations, planets and galaxies blended by the subtle play of light over a set of scrims. The show consists of 9 chamber music pieces played by performer/composers. Between each piece is an approximately 1 minute interlude improvised by a single member of the group. Works by: Bach, Ravel, Bartok, Glass, Proto, Robison, Walker
